7 Ways To Create a Social Media Strategy [Infographic]

When putting together an internet marketing strategy, many businesses find social media to be the most overwhelming part. Social Media just keeps growing with more networks and updates that every business needs to learn to be able to fully capture their market.

If you’re one of those businesses who need a little guidance, here are 7 ways to come up with a great social media strategy based on Whole Brain Group’s 2016 Sensible Social Media Checklist for Businesses below.

1) Define your target audience
Start by defining the key demographics and psychographics of your audience such as age, gender, occupation, income, hobbies, interests, their daily problems, etc.

2) Start blogging
To stay afloat, you’ll need to regularly churn out fresh, curated content for your market. Come up with a list of most common questions from your prospects and write at least one new blog post a week to provide solutions.

3) Make your content educational
In relation to providing solutions, don’t wait for them to ask questions. Provide your visitors with answers they didn’t even know they needed. Consider creating downloadable content like e-books, checklists, videos, infographics, etc. If they find it helpful, your audience will be more likely to share these and extend your reach.

4) Focus on key social media platforms
Most small businesses don’t have the resources to sustain a great social media presence on a handful of platforms – this is where the overwhelming part kicks in. Start small by defining which social channels your markets most likely spend time on and focus there.

5) Stay consistent
Social media needs engagement to thrive so be sure you are consistently posting and updating your channel to see results.

6) Measure results
Keep track of how much traffic is being driven to your website or blog from your social channels. Watch your posts and see which ones have most engagement so you know the type of content your market is interested in.

7) Adjust
It takes time and effort to get things running smoothly. Experiment with different ways to send your message and see what works best. Over time, you’ll find the right pattern that fits and it will help you generate consistent results!
