Finding New Inspiration for Your Content Marketing

March 21, 2022

One of the trickiest parts of content marketing is coming up with fresh new ideas every week! Everyone suffers from writer’s block now and then, but sometimes all you need is a new source of inspiration to spark a creative idea or two. Let’s take a look at some interesting places to seek inspiration for your content marketing.

1 - Get Off The Internet!

It might seem counter-intuitive considering content marketing is part of internet marketing, but sometimes unplugging from the world wide web can help you to get inspired. Stop endlessly scrolling through social media and blog posts for ideas and look to the world outside! Get outside and look around. That could mean hitting your local high street, riding the bus, or it could mean spending some time in nature. There is a whole world out there to explore, and it could be full of inspiration. Think about how your product works out there in the real world. What problems can you solve for your consumers? Think about your daily challenges and how your product fits into your life.

2- Come at Your Industry from a New Angle

Some of the most successful content marketing ideas are those that bring a fresh new idea to the table. If it feels like your industry has gotten stale and you are regurgitating the same topics over and over again, it might be time to look for a whole new angle. This means you need to take a step back and look from a whole new perspective. Imagine a complete newcomer to your industry or product. What would they want to know? Could you take your product or service and apply it to a totally different industry? For example, suppose you are looking for content marketing ideas for a yoga studio and usually write content aimed at fitness fanatics and health-conscious moms. In that case, you could pivot and write a piece reaching out to corporate America, telling them why morning yoga will help them be more productive at work.

3 - Try a New Process

If you usually write your content marketing while sitting at a desk in your office and you are starting to struggle with ideas, it could be time to shake things up and try a new process. Sometimes a change of scenery can make a world of difference. Take a notepad and pen, head to a local coffee shop, and people watch for an hour. See what ideas you can come up with from watching others go about their daily lives. Alternatively, if your office is usually noisy with lots of coming and going from your co-workers, then try finding someplace quiet with no distractions. I have gotten some of my best ideas on long train journeys and flights! Wherever you are when the inspiration strikes - stop and take notes!

4 - Focus on a Different Topic

You cannot force the process if you want genuinely creative content marketing ideas. Stop sitting there staring at an empty page and turn your focus to something else. Why not look for a podcast, webinar, or TED talk on an interesting topic - not necessarily relevant to your industry or niche. It’s a great way to engage your brain again and kick-starts those ideas. You could even try just doing a few puzzles! Anything that will get you thinking. Once you have exercised your mind a little, you will be better positioned to develop some new ideas. You may even stumble on something along the way!

5 - Create a Creative Bubble

Sometimes we need a little help from a friend! If you need some fresh new content marketing ideas:

  1. Surround yourself with creative people.
  2. Invite a few people to join you for a brainstorming session.
  3. Don’t put pressure on the group to specifically come up with content ideas; just start discussing your product.
  4. Have everyone contribute their thoughts and ideas in an open discussion and see what rises to the surface!
  5. You could add some customers into the mix as well to gain another perspective.

These are just a few of the places where you can look for inspiration when you have hit a rut with your content marketing strategy. However, suppose it is becoming an ongoing struggle. In that case, you might want to consider working with an internet marketing company like bluedress INTERNET MARKETING® to create engaging content for your brand, allowing you to focus on other essential tasks.
